All service engagements include a client-specific executive summary containing strategic and operational recommendations, and a client-specific operation run book containing detailed technical instruction. The documentation is written with the expectation that the client will use it as a framework to enable repeatable operations and processes for future deployments.

Pre-Production Readiness (3 weeks)

  • Prove Egenera advantages in the client environment during Proof of Concept (POC) loaned hardware testing
  • Create operational and deployment best practices around lead applications on the Egenera systemapplications on the Egenera system

Oracle Accelerator (3 weeks)

  • Activate integration between PAN Manager and Oracle software (PAN plugin for Grid Control)

Utility Services Accelerator (3 weeks)

Disaster Recovery (DR) Accelerator(3 weeks)

  • Build and implement client-specific solutions for DR
  • Optimize DR processes and procedures based on Egenera platform capabilities
  • Identify alternative uses for DR environments when not in production as part of the business continuance plan

VirtualCTRL - Physical to Egenera (P2E) Migration (1 week)

  • Migrate physical legacy servers to Egenera environments and place under PAN Manager control
  • Utilize custom Egenera PS processes, as well as commercial tools and procedures to migrate client environments (pBlade or vBlade)
  • Accelerate the migration to PAN architecture by eliminating time-consuming application/database reinstallation and configuration procedures
  • Note:  P2E Migrations may be performed as part of PPR and USA engagements
  • Client benefit: Greatly reduce time required to achieve production cutover on the PAN

xSP Accelerator (3 weeks)

  • Develop shared resource model strategy for service providers based on PAN best practice deployment strategies, features and capabilities
  • Leverage PAN architecture and best practices to optimize operations and develop unique products that may provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace
  • Lead client though product positioning and price points to assist clients in development and approved business models

Server Virtualization Accelerator (PAN vmBuilder Accelerator / VMware ESX® Accelerator - 1 week)

  • Support the creation of  multiple virtual machines within a single physical server
  • Deploy virtual machines running under PAN architecture
  • May include PAN vmBuilder software or virtual machine technology from VMware ESX® or other 3rd party providers

PAN Utilization Methodology Accelerator (PUMA - 1 week)

  • Provide consulting expertise for presenting and determining the virtualization technologies and strategies required by the end client
  • Lead clients to determine optimal virtualization tools, applications and techniques.  Includes PAN Manager and  all PAN Manager modules, VMware ESX, PlateSpin, Virtuosso, and Xen, as well as other leading virtualization solutions.
  • Architect optimal virtualization strategy for client application environments and datacenters
  • Client benefit: Identify the best virtual environment across PAN  and 3rd party solutions

On-site Residency

  • Provide onsite Egenera consultant(s) for an extended term
  • Identify and provide best practice enhancement opportunities
  • Accelerate knowledge transfer of best practices and training
  • Operate as member of systems administration team to ensure effective use of large scale Egenera environments
