ORACLE OPENWORLD, San Francisco, Calif.—September 19, 2005—Egenera Inc. today announced that Oracle has recognized the Egenera® BladeFrame® system as a North America Titan Partner Solution of the Year. Specifically, a deployment of Oracle® Real Application Clusters on the Egenera BladeFrame by joint customer FreshDirect received top honors in the Small-to-Medium Business Solution category. Egenera technology is being featured in Oracle DEMOgrounds A, booth no. 429, and in the AMD booth, no. 812, Moscone South, at Oracle OpenWorld.
Since replacing legacy RISC systems with the Egenera BladeFrame, FreshDirect has documented lower total cost of ownership, a better customer experience through faster online checkout, more efficient resource utilization through N+1 failover, scalability to meet any demand spike, and a reduction in server installation time from weeks to minutes.
The Egenera system's unique Processing Area Network (PAN) architecture, which features hardware virtualization and a diskless Processing BladeTM design, provides an ideal platform to leverage the capabilities of Oracle Real Application Clusters.
