Showcases latest Egenera Processing Blades based on Intel® technology
MARLBORO, Mass. — June 5, 2006 — Egenera Inc., a leader in datacenter virtualization, today announced that Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) is expanding its use of Egenera® BladeFrame® systems within the Oracle Enterprise Technology Centers (ETC) in Atlanta, Ga. and Reston, Va. The Oracle ETC is a state-of-the-art facility designed for in-depth customer demonstrations, proof of concepts, and custom testing and consulting. The expanded use of both Intel and Egenera's latest technology within Oracle's ETC allows customers and prospects to use field-proven best practices to rapidly deploy Oracle databases and applications on Egenera BladeFrame systems in a working environment. Egenera's datacenter virtualization systems have been installed in Oracle's ETC since 2002.
"The Egenera BladeFrame systems in our Enterprise Technology Centers have been rock solid and easy to manage for the more than four years they've been installed," said Jim Olsen, senior director, Oracle Enterprise Technology Center. "We're expanding our deployment of Egenera's latest Intel-based Processing BladeTM modules within our Enterprise Technology Centers based on the Egenera system's ability to rapidly reprovision resources on the fly and eliminate complexity in implementing high-availability enterprise infrastructures. For example, the Egenera BladeFrame system in the Reston ETC will be used for both Grid and RAC training for customers and internal staff based on its ability to rapidly repurpose. We look forward to expanding our work with Egenera's latest Intel-based Processing Blades for our joint customers' benefit."
In September of last year, the Egenera BladeFrame system was selected as a North America Titan Partner Solution of the Year—signifying its value to customers deploying Oracle solutions. As part of the companies' longstanding alliance, Egenera and Oracle jointly offer multiple Accelerator Services including Egenera/Oracle Grid Accelerator Service and Oracle-on-Egenera 10g Database Accelerator Service. The joint Accelerator Services minimize customer risk by eliminating complexity in implementing high-availability, enterprise infrastructures through pre-tested, validated and integrated support. Customers are able to maximize their return on investment and improve performance by leveraging the full functionality of Egenera and Oracle technologies. Egenera is a Certified Oracle Partner and Oracle is a member of the Egenera Enterprise Technology Alliance Program.
"We continue to work shoulder-to-shoulder with Oracle to ensure our joint customers' success," said Kathy Yenke, vice president, Business Development at Egenera. "Our expansion within Oracle's ETC is one more way that we're bringing our collective technologies, expertise and people together for customer benefit. We're pleased that our alliance continues to add business value to customers in meaningful and measurable ways."
