—10 Node Oracle Real Application Clusters 10g Scalability Benchmark—
—Previews New Plug-in for Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g—
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—October 24, 2006—Today at Oracle® OpenWorld, Egenera released the results of an extensive joint benchmark with Oracle demonstrating Oracle Real Application Clusters 10g scalability up to 10 nodes. Egenera is focused on large-scale Oracle RAC deployments as evidenced by its enterprise customers typically running four or more nodes. Egenera will detail its ease of linear scalability with both AMD- and Intel-based processors in a soon to be released whitepaper outlining scalability of more than 90 percent with 10 nodes (http://www.egenera.com/products-white-papers.htm). This will validate previously released throughput statistics for Oracle Applications on the Egenera® BladeFrame® system. The whitepaper will be available the final week of October.
In addition, in order to enable better on-demand performance management of large-scale Oracle Fusion environments across the entire Grid Infrastructure, Egenera is previewing a new Plug-in for Oracle® Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control. The new Plug-in Extension monitors and evaluates performance of Egenera-specific datacenter components, encompassing both physical hardware metrics and BladeFrame system traffic. This allows for more efficient and seamless Grid management across the entire infrastructure stack. The new Plug-in is being demonstrated at Egenera's booth 3127 West at Oracle OpenWorld.
In September of 2005, the Egenera BladeFrame system was selected as a North America Titan Partner Solution of the Year—signifying its value to customers deploying Oracle solutions. As part of the companies' longstanding alliance, Egenera and Oracle jointly offer multiple Accelerator Services including Egenera/Oracle Grid Accelerator Service and Oracle-on-Egenera 10g Database Accelerator Service.
