Marlboro, Mass.—October 17, 2005— Egenera Inc., a global leader in utility computing, today announced that it has entered into a distributor agreement with Automated Systems Holdings Limited, wherein Automated will sell the Egenera® BladeFrame® product line throughout Hong Kong, China and Macau. Automated is a major subsidiary of CSA Holdings Limited of Singapore; U.S.-based Computer Sciences Corporation is CSA's controlling shareholder.
"To meet rapidly growing demand for our technology throughout Asia, we are aggressively expanding our presence by forging alliances with premier distributors and systems integrators," explained Mike Thompson, chief operating officer, Egenera. "As Hong Kong's leading IT services provider, Automated epitomizes the integrity, dedication and track record we look for in a business partner. We are gratified that they have chosen to bring the Egenera BladeFrame system to their world-class customers."
"A complex server environment is difficult and expensive for enterprises to manage, leading to possible undermining of the performance and agility of a business," said Mr. YT Lai, managing director, Automated Systems Holdings Limited. "Enterprise customers need a computing system that is easy to manage and costs less to operate over time without sacrificing reliability and flexibility. Automated is glad to work with Egenera to provide Egenera's simple yet powerful computing architecture to the enterprise market. While the system is easy to deploy and install, its physical and virtual components are fully redundant with no single point of failure, thus suitable for running mission-critical applications such as databases, application servers and transaction processing. After capping IT investment in the past few years, many businesses have started looking for ways to upgrade their hardware to stay competitive in the market. Egenera's cost-effective and reliable computing architecture can help customers enhance return on investment and operational efficiency."
